FAQ
Questions people ask.
Is the face symmetry test really free?
Yes. Every feature is free, with no subscription, no trial and no account. There is an optional tip you can leave through the App Store, but it unlocks nothing, because nothing in the app is locked.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Analysis runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple's Vision framework. Photos are never uploaded, never shared and never sent to a server. They stay on your device until you delete them.
How is the symmetry score calculated?
Facial landmarks are detected on device, then 18 measurements (facial thirds and fifths, face length-to-width ratio, jaw angle, canthal tilt, left/right deviation and more) are each compared against a stated target. The overall index is a weighted average: symmetry 30%, proportions 25%, harmony 20%, thirds and fifths 15%, angles 10%. Every target is published inside the app.
Will the same photo always give the same score?
Yes. The scoring is deterministic geometry, not a language model, so the same photo always produces the same result. Different photos of the same person will differ, because lighting, angle, expression and distance all change the measurements.
Does it use the golden ratio?
No. A literal golden ratio target of 1.618 scores almost every real face poorly, so the face length-to-width target is 1.45. The app documents this along with every other target it uses.
Is this a medical or scientific assessment?
No. Mog War is an educational and entertainment tool for exploring facial geometry. It is not a medical, clinical or scientific assessment, and results vary with photo conditions.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone or iPad running iOS 26.4 or later. The plain-language insight feature additionally requires a device with Apple Intelligence, and the app works fully without it.
