Because it genuinely couldn't stand. Every joint has to carry the weight above it, so if you keep stacking toward one edge, at some point the load sits over nothing and the column gives way. A wobbly tower is fine — a tower that leans the same direction for ten floors is not.
The tower sways more the more crooked it is, so a clean tower is genuinely easier to keep building. If it's still too much, the Depot sells a Steady Cable that shortens the swing and a Wind Anchor that damps the sway, both paid for with coins you earn by playing.
Progress is saved on your device only — there is no cloud save. Deleting the app, or moving to a new phone without an encrypted backup, will lose it. We genuinely cannot recover it from our side, because we never had a copy.

updates the next time your best improves. To have an entry deleted entirely,
email us the name and the short tag next to it (for example
moth#7K2Q) and we'll remove it.
Versus splits the screen and turns the top half upside down, so you sit opposite each other with the phone flat between you. Tap your own half to drop. Both sides get an identical crane regardless of what either of you has bought.
There's a mute button in the top right of the title screen, and separate sound, music and rumble switches in the pause menu. Skyliner also respects the physical silent switch.
